The city or municipality of Playas de Rosarito is a part of the State of Baja California, it borders Tijuana to the north, to the south with Ensenada, to the west with the Pacific Ocean where its beaches are located.
The total surface area of the city is 513.32km², Rosarito is located about 30 minutes (driving distance) from Tijuana approximately 27 Km. away, among its main tourist attractions are its beaches, hotels, restaurants, curio shops, etc. Just to name a few.

Rosarito is located approximately 30Km from the border, 35 minutes traveling by highway, and thus becoming an ideal place for foreign tourists, thanks to its ideal location.
The predominant climate is humid mild Mediterranean, with rains principally in winter, January and February.
Annual precipitation is 273 millimeters.
Yearly average temperature is 17º centigrade (63 Fahrenheit).
The dominant winds originate from the northwest and southwest with an intensity of 10 km/hr (6.2 miles/hour) during the entire year.
The deciding factor in creation of infrastructure is the volume of residents in a certain location.
The larger the number of residents of the area, the greater the development of infrastructure that is required and that government must and does provide.
Rosarito is one of the cities with largest population growth rate in the country and has an estimated population of 85,500 residents in 2006, based on studies and estimates carried out by CONEPO (State of Baja California Population Council).
The municipality of Playas de Rosarito is the latest municipality to be incorporated within the State of Baja California, at the moment of its incorporation and separation from the municipality of Tijuana regarding new lands destined for the new municipality in 1995, there were 45,596 residents that represented 2.4% of the State’s population.
By 2000 and per the XII General Population and Residency Census published by INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography), the population grew to 63,420 residents, of which 32,442 (51.15%) were male and 30,978 (48.85%) were female.
From information gathered by the Socio-Economic-Demographic Diagnostic of 2003 published by CONEPO, for that year the total population for the State was 2,910,909 residents, with a growth rate of 4.15%.
For the municipality of Playas de Rosarito the information stated 85,461 residents, representing 2.94% of the State’s population, with a growth rate of 8.29%, double the State’s population growth rate

As the above graph shows, the municipality with the most population is Tijuana which has 50.63% of the State’s population, followed by Mexicali with 28.75%, Ensenada has 14.56%, Tecate has 3.12% and Playas de Rosarito has 2.94% of the State’s population.
CONEPO, by way of its Report regarding Population in Urban Areas dated November 2003, states that if the population growth tendencies of the period between 1990 and 2000 continue, by the year 2010 the State’s population shall be 3,934,170 residents, of which 149,240 shall correspond to Rosarito, representing 3.79% of the State’s total.
